How to Register a Company in Ireland: 5 Steps

Step 1 — Company Name Check

Your name is checked against the CRO register. We advise on conflicts, secure the name, and handle Business Name Registration separately if needed.

Step 2 — Director & Shareholder Information

Irish/EEA directors need a PPSN. Non-EEA residents without one must first obtain an IPN/VIN — a service Chern & Co processes before the main filing.

Step 3 — Constitution & RBO Preparation

We draft your constitution and prepare the initial RBO filing, identifying all beneficial owners holding 25%+ of shares or voting rights.

Step 4 — CRO Submission (A1 Form)

A1 submitted electronically. Standard processing: 3–5 working days. Rush processing (1–2 days) available for an additional CRO fee.

Step 5 — Tax Registration with Revenue

Corporation Tax immediately. VAT once thresholds are met. PAYE/PRSI when hiring. We offer full Tax Registration with Revenue support.

How long does it take to register a company in Ireland?

With online CRO submission, standard processing takes 3–5 working days. Rush processing (1–2 days) is available for an additional fee. The clock starts once we have all required documents from you.

Can non-residents form a company in Ireland?

Yes. No residency requirement to own an Irish company. However, Section 137 of the Companies Act 2014 requires at least one EEA-resident director. Non-EEA founders use our Nominee Director service. More in our FAQ.

Do I need an Irish registered address?

Yes. Every Irish limited company must have a registered office in the Republic. Chern & Co provides a professional Registered Office Address service from our Limerick office.

What is the minimum share capital?

No statutory minimum share capital for an Irish LTD under the Companies Act 2014. A common default is €100 authorised (100 shares × €1) with as little as one share issued. Further shares can be issued after incorporation.

Can I form a company in Ireland fully remotely?

Do I need an accountant or solicitor?
